Couples who spook together, stay together right? This Beetlejuice and Lydia have been together for a while so it only seems true. Though it took a few years for us to finally dress as Beetlejuice and Lydia, I must say I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Kyle and I have had these costumes for a couple years now, but when we got his costume it was delivered after Halloween, so we didn’t get to use it initially and then didn’t dress up last year. This year we didn’t go out or anything together, but I finally convinced him to dress up with me and make a photoshoot happen!
See, I’ve loved the movie Beetlejuice since I was a little kid. It was always a favorite of mine and I loved the music that went along with it, the dances and just the bizarreness that it is! I told myself one day I would dress up as Lydia, and heck I wear black so much now that I might as well be her.
Prior to taking these photos I helped put costume makeup on Kyle, which was actually pretty difficult, I don’t think I want to ever do anyone’s makeup or hair, that’s just not an artistic skill for me and I can barely do my own let alone others. Even though the makeup looked ridiculous it completely worked for the photos. Kyle really is a trooper and said he wouldn’t do it again, but I’ve caught him suggesting other people we could dress up as for photos, so, there may be more makeup in the future too… Maybe I’ll have to practice, haha.
I’d love to do some even spookier photoshoots in various locations throughout the year, Brooke Shaden inspires this in me, if you haven’t heard of her I would highly suggest checking out her self portraits if dark and creepy stuff is your thing.
