Richy Shimek Headshots

Richy happened to be in town for a few days before another big move, so of course a photoshoot needed to happen. He was looking for some updated headshots before moving to Chicago. Richy is quite a natural in front of the camera which is fitting for his love of acting, singing and recently spoken word.

I’ve known Richy for over 12 years. Back in the day we used to roam around town going on mini ‘photoshoots’ and I still have some photos which include his massive afro during the time while wearing skin tight pink spandex shorts. (Maybe I’ll share them sometime.) Those images are gold and I will always cherish them. Richy really got me into taking photos of others and exploring my love of photography in high school. He has always been supportive of my creative journey and we connect on such a deep level creatively as well as when we talk about our goals.

After college he made a move to Madison, WI and has been working towards his dreams and goals ever since. He is always on the go, moving to where he needs to in order to achieve them. From Madison he moved to Los Angeles, CA for a few years, then became my roomie for a year as he caught up with friends and family at home here in Eau Claire and saved money for future ventures. After being in Eau Claire he headed to Milwaukee for a year and now it’s finally time to immerse himself in Chicago.

I think Chicago is a perfect fit for him – his love of acting, singing, theater, entertainment will be more than fulfilled in the windy city. I love watching this guy grow, it’s beautiful and inspiring and he’s always encouraging others around him to do the same.

While catching up and taking photos we first ventured to The Pablo Center at the Confluence for beautiful lighting through their giant windows. After showing him The Pablo Center we took advantage of a classic brick wall located by The Fire House and ended the evening with friends at the new Brewing Projekt during golden hour. These locations didn’t exist the last time he was in town, except the Fire House, so taking photos ended up being combined with a mini new buildings of Eau Claire tour. I’m so thankful to have taken these headshots for Richy and cannot see what he accomplishes in Chicago.
